39 Carden Street is a small bistro in the heart of downtown Guelph. Since its opening in July of 2013, I have managed the following:
- Website
- Blog posts
- Social Media + Online Strategy
- Social Media Management on: Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Instagram, Tumblr, Yelp, UrbanSpoon, TripAdvisor, and Swarm/Foursquare
- Content creation
- Social Media Campaigns
- Photography of special events
Website
Using the WordPress CMS, 39 Carden Street’s website, is functional and responsive across all devices. Aiming to echo their food, which is locally sourced and simple with a twist, this website features a rotating header of different dishes that have been featured. Users can make a reservation, book a private event, view the restaurant and all of menus, as well as connect on a variety of social mediums. 39 Carden Street relies heavily on its blog and the sharing of those blog posts to social media to promote the numerous local events and daily features that it offers.
Blog Posts
39 Carden Street relies heavily on blog posts to not only highlight their ever changing features, they also use it to create mini press releases about performing musical acts, catering endeavours, and participation in local events that are both charitable and for-profit. Blogging became a main focus of their strategy in an effort to drive more traffic to their website, which plays host to their daily menu, which is inspired by what is available locally, and because of that reason, is ever changing. Their blog also highlights specific events, like Wine & Dines with VQA wineries and serves as a way for those who may be interested in attending to get a closer look at what they’re in for.
Social Media Strategy, Management + Content Creation
The strategy for 39 Carden Street is to bring a level of elevated service and food, while not taking itself too seriously. As a bistro with a menu that changes daily, coordination with staff, the kitchen and social media needs to be flawless. Imagery used is mostly nostalgic and chic but at the same time shows a humourous and fun side of a bistro that has dainty chandeliers and mason jars on shelves. By tapping into foodie culture and offering up unique dishes along with daily specials highlighted throughout blog posts, social media and their website at large, 39 Carden Street has become quite a sucess in Guelph using nothing more than it’s social media channels and properly timed co-promotion.
